What is a Tattoo
?
A
tattoo is a permanent mark or design made on one's body through
the process of inserting a pigment into the dermal layer of the
skin, otherwise known as dermal pigmentation. These markings are
designed to be permanent. In ancient times, the skin was cut or
hand-pricked to insert ash or dyes.
Today, a tattoo machine
is used to apply tattoos. It is an electric device that uses a
needle to rapidly puncture the skin in a repetitive motion. As
the skin is punctured, pigments are injected into the skin.
The process of receiving
a tattoo can be painful depending upon what your pain threshold
is.
